What’s Next?: FTC’s RFI

In a recent interview with Franchise Times, Cheng Cohen attorneys, Allison Grow Ryan and Aaron-Michael Sapp, gave their perspectives on the FTC’s request for information regarding franchising practices and the comments submitted in response. For both attorneys, a key takeaway is that the FTC’s request does not equate to a change in regulation. Given the breadth of the inquiry and the submitted comments, if the FTC does ultimately decide to create a federal regulation of the franchise relationship, there is no telling how sweeping those regulations will be.
