LITIGATION PARALEGAL

We are seeking a licensed paralegal to join our team of experienced legal professionals.  Experience with franchise law is an advantage, but not required.  Responsibilities will include maintaining litigation files; docketing; filing pleadings, motions, and other papers with courts and other tribunals; drafting discovery requests and responses; managing and tracking document collections and productions; working with electronic discovery vendors; creating fact timelines, exhibit binders, and deposition summaries; assisting with depositions and trials; and providing support to our attorneys on an array of other litigation matters and projects.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have at least 1-2 years of experience in a litigation paralegal role;
  • work at an advanced level with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word);
  • have experience with Westlaw or LexisNexis;
  • be familiar with Relativity, Concordance, Logikcull, and/or other electronic discovery platforms;
  • demonstrate exceptional organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills;
  • have an eagerness to learn and a willingness to adapt to a dynamic work environment with minimum supervision;
  • bring a team-oriented “can do” attitude;
  • be reliable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

TRANSACTIONAL ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

We are seeking a licensed attorney to join our team of experienced transactional attorneys.   Our lawyers are first and foremost general business lawyers, though our clients are principal franchise brands.   We deal with a broad spectrum of general business issues as well as the regulatory schemes under which all franchisors must operate.  Experience with franchise law is an advantage, but not required.   The right candidate is an attorney who can demonstrate exceptional transactional skills, including structuring, drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated contracts; reviewing and understanding intricate regulations and statutes; and managing demanding complex multi-faceted transactions.  Responsibilities will include drafting various franchise-related agreements and regulatory filings (e.g., franchise disclosure documents) and working on other general corporate transactions in a fast-paced environment.  A large part of our transactional practice also involves representing franchisors or private equity groups in mergers and acquisitions involving franchise systems.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have 1 to 4 years’ experience practicing law, but recent law school graduates who have exceptional academic performance and who have sat for the Illinois bar exam may be considered as well;
  • have excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • have previous business and/or corporate law experience;
  • have participated in a law journal or in a legal clinic (focused on business law);
  • be able to think through complex legal issues in the context of business realities;
  • have an eagerness to learn; and
  • be organized, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and self-assured.

LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

We are seeking a licensed attorney to join our team of experienced litigators.  Our litigation attorneys deal with all types of commercial litigation, though our clients are principally franchised brands.  We deal with a broad spectrum of disputes in both arbitration and state and federal court, including employment, intellectual property, contract, and franchise matters.  Responsibilities will include legal research, drafting motions and pleadings, conducting discovery, and assisting our senior attorneys at oral arguments, depositions, and trial.  Our group provides a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.  Experience with franchise law is an advantage, but not required.  The right candidate is an attorney who can demonstrate exceptional writing and analytical skills, including researching and analyzing case law and intricate regulations and statutes; drafting persuasive arguments; identifying, summarizing, and tracking key facts, documents, and testimony; and understanding and managing complex litigation.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have 1 to 4 years of experience practicing law, but recent law school graduates who have exceptional academic performance and who have sat for the Illinois bar exam may be considered as well;
  • have excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • have previous commercial and/or business litigation experience;
  • have participated in a law journal or in a legal clinic (focused on litigation or business law);
  • be able to think through complex legal issues in the context of business realities;
  • have an eagerness to learn; and

TRANSACTIONAL PARALEGAL
