Amy E. Cmiel

Amy combines IP, strategy, and franchise know-how to protect assets and fuel business growth.

Amy’s practice focuses on intellectual property, franchise law, and general corporate and transactional matters. Her services extend to trademark registration, maintenance, and enforcement, contract negotiations, corporate restructuring and acquisitions, and counseling clients on regulatory and compliance issues.

Amy also supports franchise brands in preparing franchise disclosure documents and franchise and development agreements, handling transfers and terminations, and other issues arising in the evolution of a franchise system domestically and internationally.

Prior to joining Cheng Cohen, Amy clerked at law firms specializing in intellectual property, commercial litigation, and general corporate matters. In law school, Amy served as Managing Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and earned a certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
