A Texas federal court issued a nationwide preliminary injunction enjoining enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and stayed the fast-approaching January 1, 2025 reporting deadline for non-exempt companies, which we described further in a prior article. The new injunction grants a nationwide reprieve to the reporting obligations under the CTA. However, reporting companies should continue to remain vigilant. The Department of Justice is expected to appeal or seek an immediate stay of the injunction, and, if successful, reporting companies may have a limited window to complete their BOIRs in the future.
